Jessenia Trejo is a first-year Physician Assistant (PA) student at Texas Tech University Health Science Center. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from The University of Texas at Arlington and is proud to be the first in her family to graduate from college.
As a second-year applicant, Jessenia overcame challenges from her first application cycle such as low standardized test scores and a low GPA. By building strong clinical experience as a certified phlebotomist and pharmacy technician, and crafting a strong personal statement, Jessenia was successful in her pursuit to a PA school acceptance. In her personal statement, she highlighted her bedside manner and cultural humility.
Jessenia’s persistence and resilience reflect her deep passion for healthcare and her commitment to providing care to underserved communities. Outside of her academics, she enjoys attending dance classes, baking desserts and shopping at thrift stores.
Jessenia is known for being personable, hardworking, and charismatic. She is also passionate about mentorship and offers support to aspiring PA students through essay editing, mock interviews and application review services.
